The universality of Islam is evident in the six articles of faith. Allah mentioned in the first article of faith is the Creator of Universe and is understood to be a “non-denominational” God.
The five pillars of Islam represent the principle acts of worship which are required to practice the faith. Observance and practice of these acts is obligatory for all Muslims.
Islam helps us develop a close relationship with Allah by first telling us what to believe in (the 6 Articles of Faith) and then explaining how to implement these beliefs in our lives (the 5 Pillars of Islam). Muslims believe in the following six Articles of Faith.
Allah is the name of the God Almighty in the Arabic Language. Allah is the personal name of God. The word Allah is never used for any other being or thing.
Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. The word Islam literally means ‘Peace and surrender to the will of Allah the Creator’.
Islam is flexible, and allows for democracy, monarchy, tribalism and other forms of government as long as they meet the requirements of absolute justice and consultation.
Wherever the Qur’an permits fighting, it does so only for defensive purposes. Muslims are advised to resort to patience, prayer and even emigration to avoid war and bloodshed.
Dhimmis had a special place in Medina. Prophet Muhammad said, “If anyone wrongs a man with whom a covenant has been made [i.e., a dhimmi], or curtails any right of his, or imposes on him more than he can bear, or takes anything from him without his ready agreement, I shall be his adversary on the Day of Resurrection.”
Islam meets the general basic requirements envisaged for an acceptable religion forwarded by some anti-Islam forces. It provides freedom of choice, no coercion, and stands by and protects basics human rights of both Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
The Qur’an, more than 140 times, highlights knowledge as a distinguishing characteristic of believers. Prophet Muhammad declared, “Seeking knowledge is a duty upon every Muslim.” [1] Archaic means, “obsolete – antiquated – old – ancient – out-of-date,” and Islam stands for the seeking of knowledge – thus it has always promoted advancement and freshness and growth – not the characteristics of an archaic system of thinking at all.

Two places are considered the holiest places in Islam. One is a place called “Kaaba” which is in the centre of city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The second holiest place is considered the city of Medina about 200 km from Mecca.
