Falahud Din Shams is National Vice President of Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam USA. He was President of Chicago chapter of the Ahmadiyya Community for over 35 years and has served the community as the National Auditor for twelve years.
From 2006 through 2015, he held the position of Chief Editor of the longest running Muslim magazine in America, The Muslim Sunrise. Currently he is the consulting editor of the magazine.
It was under his administration that the Mosque in Glen Ellyn, IL (2004) and a new mosque in Chicago (1994) at the site of the first Ahmadiyya Mission house on Wabash Ave were built.
He also supervised the construction of the first Ahmadiyya Mosque in South America, in Petropolis, Brazil in 2016.
He is also in-charge of missions in Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, and Palau. In 2011, he supervised the construction of the first mosque in Micronesia in the city of Majuro, Marshall Islands. A mission house was also built in Kosrae, FSM in 2015.
Mr. Shams is an enterpreneur and as a CPA spent most of his career in financial management. He is a speaker and a writer and has written numerous articles on Islam and Ahmadiyyat. He published a book Titled “Straight Talk” in 2016. He is the son of Maulana Jalalud Din Shams, the ex-Imam of London Fazal Mosque (1936 to 1946) who also established Ahmadiyya missions in Syria (Damascus) and in Kababir, Haifa, Palestine in 1928 (currently part of Israel). Maulana Shams is well known for his writings and speeches especially his book “Where Did Jesus Die?”
