“The government of Punjab, including the Chief Minister and officials, claim that crime has been completely eradicated in Punjab and that not a single criminal remains. However, the daily attacks on Ahmadis, the killings, martyrdoms, injuries, and burning of their property, are not considered crimes in their eyes.” – Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad

On Friday, October 10, 2025, the Imam of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Caliph of the Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, addressed in his sermon the incident of the terrorist attack that targeted Ahmadi Muslims while they were performing prayers at the Baitul Mahdi Mosque in Rabwah, Pakistan, which occurred earlier that same day.

According to initial reports, a gunman opened fire on several members of the Ahmadiyya community who were volunteering outside the mosque to protect worshippers, injuring a number of them. At least two sustained serious injuries and were taken to the operating room, while others suffered minor injuries. The attacker was killed by security forces at the scene before he could enter the mosque and target more innocent people.

This attack comes in the context of a long history of systematic persecution of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan, where its members are denied basic civil and religious rights under discriminatory laws, are legally prohibited from identifying as Muslims or practicing their religious rites publicly, and are often the target of hate campaigns and violent attacks.

Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“Today, terrorists attacked Al-Mahdi Mosque in Rabwa, located in the round market, and five or six of our brothers there were injured, two of them seriously, and they underwent surgery. We ask God to improve their condition, and to grant all the wounded a speedy recovery. Two of them were shot in the abdomen. One of the terrorists was killed by one of our guards, and the other terrorist escaped. This is the latest information we have received so far, and the remaining details will follow.”

After describing the incident, His Holiness prayed for mercy and healing for all members of the community who were injured while serving their faith, and demanded that the Punjab government act justly and take responsibility for protecting all citizens, instead of merely making empty claims that crime has been completely eradicated from the region.

Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:

“We ask God Almighty to enable us to quickly apprehend these terrorists, lawbreakers, and enemies of the community.”

The Punjab government, including the Prime Minister and officials, claim that crime has completely disappeared in Punjab and that not a single criminal remains, but the attacks launched against Ahmadis day after day, and the killing, martyrdom, injuries, and burning of their property that they are subjected to, may not be considered a crime in their view.

We ask God to grant these governments reason and insight, and to soon show a clear sign in support of the group.”

Earlier in his sermon, His Holiness referred to a series of events that occurred after the Prophet ﷺ returned to Medina following the conquest of Mecca, explaining that these events remind us of the Prophet ﷺ’s supreme mercy and great forgiveness, and direct the community today to how to deal with adversity and adhere to the principles of peace and forgiveness.

Rabwah is a city located in the Punjab region and is the administrative headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan .
